The students behind PeerPathway Tutors
Kiran Rao
Founder
I'm Kiran, a member of the National Honor Society, a senior at the Emery/Weiner School, a co-founder of Mu Alpha Theta, and the founder of PeerPathway Tutors. My favorite book is Brave New World, and I am currently reading Thinking Fast and Slow. As a student leader and varsity athlete, I understand the challenges of balancing intellectual growth with external commitments, and I am dedicated to helping other students manage their life as a student too.
Julius Lesnick Schafer
Co-founder
I'm Julius, a senior at the Emery/Weiner School, a member of the National Honor Society, and the tutoring manager for PeerPathway Tutors. I am actively involved in Mu Alpha Theta, Math Club, and Model United Nations, and my favorite book is The Theoretical Minimum. As someone who enjoys learning and sharing knowledge, I'm committed to helping students discover effective ways to understand material and build a lasting appreciation for learning.
Our Story
We're Kiran and Julius, and we created PeerPathway because we believe learning should feel supportive, approachable, and manageable.
As students ourselves, we've experienced that academic success is about more than just understanding course material. It's also about learning how to study effectively, stay organized, manage time, and remain motivated. PeerPathway Tutors was built to help students develop these skills through meaningful peer-to-peer support.
PeerPathway connects students with tutors who have recently completed the same courses and understand current classroom expectations. This shared experience allows tutors to offer guidance that is practical, relevant, and rooted in real academic experience.
More than just tutoring, PeerPathway Tutors focuses on building confidence and independence. Our goal is to support students as they grow into capable, self-directed learners—both inside and beyond the classroom.
Why peer tutoring works
PeerPathway Tutors is built on the belief that students can meaningfully support one another through shared experience and responsible leadership. Our tutors are current students who have recently completed the same courses, worked with the same teachers, and followed the same curriculum as the peers they mentor. This firsthand experience allows them to provide guidance that is timely, relevant, and grounded in real classroom expectations.
More importantly, our tutors serve as academic role models. Having successfully navigated these courses themselves, they offer not only subject-specific support but also mentorship rooted in effective study habits, organization, and perseverance. Our student leaders help their peers grow with confidence and integrity.
