Information We Collect

Tutor Account & Profile Information:

  • • Bio, subjects, educational background, and experience
  • • Rates and community service hour preferences
  • • Availability times

Tutor Applications & Reports:

  • • Application details, including resume and transcript uploads
  • • Admin review records created while vetting tutors
  • • Information submitted through our reporting form (name, email, and report details)

Usage Information:

  • • Device and browser information
  • • IP address and location data

For Minors:

Families can browse the directory without creating an account, so we collect no account information from students. Tutors may be under 18; we collect only what is needed to review their applications and publish their profiles, and we never use minor data for marketing purposes.

How We Use Your Information

Provide Services: To operate the tutor directory and display the contact details tutors choose to publish so families can reach them directly

Improve Experience: To understand how the directory is used and enhance site features

Safety & Security: To review and vet tutor applications, enforce our policies, and maintain a safe environment

Communication: The only automated email our site sends is the notification we receive when someone submits a report; our admin contacts tutors directly about application status and account matters

Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

Information Sharing

We do NOT sell your personal information. We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

With Directory Visitors: Tutor profiles, including the contact details tutors choose to publish, are displayed publicly so families can reach tutors directly

Service Providers: Trusted third parties who help operate our platform (hosting, email delivery)

Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect rights and safety

With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share information

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

• Encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS)

• Secure database storage with access controls

• Regular security updates through our hosting provider

• Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage users to use strong passwords and report any suspicious activity.

• Tutor account and profile data: Retained and displayed while the account is active

• Tutor applications (including resumes and transcripts): Kept on file until reviewed and for a reasonable period afterward as part of our vetting records

• Reports: Retained as long as needed to investigate and resolve the concern

• Deleted account data: Most data deleted within 30 days, some retained for legal compliance

Children's Privacy

We comply with children's privacy laws. Families can browse the directory without creating an account, so we do not collect account information from student users. Tutor accounts belong to high school students who apply to be listed, and we collect only the information needed to review their applications and publish their profiles. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we've inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy & Data Handling policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or prominent notice on our platform. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
